I’ve tried EVERYTHING – bleach cleaners, disinfectants… what will get rid of this? Nothing? If not – how do I deal with my rental company to get them to replace it? Do rental companies allow you to split costs? I’ve done nothing unusual that would have damaged the flooring – I thought it might have been mold/mildew, but since nothing is taking away the black color I’m at a loss.

iFloor: Crucial Tips in Protecting You New Vinyl Floor

But how would this be possible if the culprits of wear and tear never go on a vacation? Here are some crucial tips you must know to enjoy the fresh new look of your vinyl flooring, presented by iFloor, the leading flooring company.

On the first few hours of your new vinyl floor, careful procedures must be done. Leave the flooring as it is for 24 hours after installation. Allow everything to dry up and stay in their stable places. When 24 hours have passed, you can now clean the flooring. Wet the entire flooring with hot water and use a mild detergent solution to clean the surface. Rinse the floor with hot water and use a soft, clean cloth or a sponge to dry the whole area. Do not put any furniture on the new flooring yet during the first hours or days after installation.

Just like our bodies, vinyl flooring is prone to acquiring all sorts of dirt and dust. It is important that we give it regular cleaning or maintenance. Remember three basic steps for routine maintenance: sweep, wash, and wax.

Dirt, dusts, and all sorts of particles may scratch the smooth surface of your vinyl flooring especially on high traffic areas. Make sure you get rid of them by sweeping. Use a soft bristled broom or a vacuum cleaner. When using a vacuum cleaner, make sure that the brush is soft and gentle as hard brush may cause scratches as well.

Remove stubborn dusts and prints by washing. Use a sponge mop by soaking it into water with vinyl floor cleaner. Mop the whole floor area without allowing too much wetness. Make sure you use a gentle vinyl cleaner and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Vinyl flooring is already made to shine. Usually, vinyl flooring does not need to have regular waxing but in areas of high traffic, you may notice some slight decrease of shine. In this case you can use a soft cloth or wool pad with a little amount of vinyl floor finish to wax the entire area. Do not forget to wash the flooring first as instructed.

Aside from regular maintenance, you can do additional measures to prevent damages on your vinyl flooring. Sunlight may be well to us but not for vinyl flooring. The sun’s rays can harm its sensitive surface. You can protect the floor from sunlight by using full length drapes or curtains to cover openings like full windows or glass sliding doors.

Asphalt residue, small stones, and other particles can cause indentations and scratches to your vinyl flooring. Avoid having these harmful substances in your house by placing soft, non-staining mats on doorways. Instruct the people in your household to wipe their shoes on mats first, or better yet, remove their footwear and change to soft slippers when getting in.

Vinyl is a sensitive type of flooring. You have to give it the utmost care to continue reflecting beauty and elegance. The higher the quality of your flooring, the greater resistance it has from damages. Be sure to get quality flooring only from trusted flooring company. Visit iFloor.

The vinyl tile is two years old and we bought it from Lowes. I have been mopping the floor with many cleaners, but it still seems to have like a layer of grime on the top, even though I’ve just cleaned it. I’ve been walking around my house with socks all the time to avoid feeling it on my feet. My socks always look dirty no matter how much I try to clean the floor. Is this something that happens with vinyl tile? Does anyone know what to do about this very annoying problem?
